For the month of August, I rode 171.1 miles for 21 days. This includes the Hoppy 100.

Upcoming rides: 50 States, and the GAP/C&O ride. Upcoming obstacle: going back to school. Stay tuned to see how it works out.

  1. I can’t seem to leave a comment on your older posts. Perhaps it’s normal for WordPress. I have enjoyed reading your blog. I found it through Aesthetics of Everywhere and reading about their cross country trip. I wanted to comment on your “One Bike” post. I don’t know if you have come to any kind of decision or not. I think the best bike, or bikes, are what works best for you. I have a Specialized TriCross. I hope to do a cross country ride some day and could see using my cross bike. I haven’t ridden a road bike. So, I speak from a lack of experience. Before my Specialized I had a Trek mountain bike. I have ridden my Specialized on RAGBRAI, Hotter’N Hell, and twice on the entire length of the KATY trail. I mainly ride on the road, average 30 miles a day, and have done several centuries. I have to say I’m in love with my bike.

Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to blog about your cycling experiences. I must admit that I’m not that good at it.

    • Hi Rick– thanks for writing! I have the commenting set so that it closes after a couple weeks of the post– it cuts down on spam.

I think that as my riding evolves, so do my needs for a bike. I like my Tricross okay– I’ve definitely logged plenty of miles on it, and it has treated me well. But I’ve never fallen in love with it the way I had with my Dolce. In any case, I’m going on a touring ride with the Tricross next month, and I’ll see how that goes.

It sounds to me that you have a good amount of experience with cycling, and I hope you continue to enjoy it. Thanks for reading my blog!
